silhouette dragonfly

I took this shot during my waterfall trip last year. This dragonfly lied about 1 meters away from where i was standing.

I decided to pull down my tripod *extremely quiet* and shot this with my macro lens. The beautiful background made me decide to shot this in silhouette way and leave the shape of the dragonfly in shadow.

By the way, it flew away a few seconds after my shot, perhaps it could sense the sound of my shutter :-)

Breathtaking!!! well done.

If you are into insects, I recommand the film "Microcosmos" ... not because it is a French guy who realised it but because it is truly amazing and interesting and if they have it in video stores in NZ, you can certainly find it anywhere! :)

Unbelievable! I have a thing about dragonflies and a collection of dragonfly photos but ....this silhouette... too beautiful!
It almost has a human head! The lattice wings! I can't stop looking at it.

BTW: A vote for Microcoamos too ... worth seeing for aome serious inspiration, but see it on a big screen if you can.
